Jamba Spring 2025 Practice Agendas

Please follow this template so that all coaches/teams are doing the same thing:

Segments will be 15 minutes long, ending with 10 minutes of PASS TAG

All sessions will do the same agenda weekly. Scale it up/down depending on the age of the kids. We want every level to be challenged.
Sample Description
Week 1- March 16-20

First 15 Minutes
---
Dribble Hand Offs/Dribble Screens:
  • We want to encourage movement with and without the ball
  • Emphasize spacing and angles to eliminate collisions
  • 5 minutes to show, 5 minutes to do with NO defense, 5 minutes 2 on 2 LIVE

Second 10 minutes
---
Pass Tag:
  • Spend the first half teaching this drill. It will be a part of every practice, with just different constraints on the kids
  • Week 1- Basic Pass Tag- No Dribble, Rotate Once All Kids are Tagged 
  • Offense = Taggers   Defense = Runners
  • Emphasize: Pivots, Passing, Movement
  • 2 minutes to show, 8 minutes to go LIVE - Constraint = Space (start with small space and grow the space larger)

  • Constraint: Every Dropped Ball or Travel: a player from the "runners" team who has been tagged out gets to return to the game
  • Play 1-minute games. If not everyone is tagged, the "runners" win. Then Rotate

  • Explain the constraints and GO LIVE

Rules

  • Each team will play 6 regular season games, followed by two playoff games. Playoff seeding will be determined by the standings/results of the regular season
  • Each game will consist of two (2) 16 minute running halves. Halftime is two (2) minutes
  • The last two (2) minutes of the game, refs will keep time on a stopwatch and countdown the last 30 seconds. If the game is close (within 6 points), the clock will stop in the final minute of the second half
  • Each team will get one (1) timeout per game. Timeouts are 45 seconds long
  • Every free throw/shooting foul is one (1) free throw. A make equals two (2) points and a miss equals zero (0) points
  • AND ONE’s results in three (3) points, NO free throw
  • Pressing: 1st/2nd Grade will have a NO press rule in order to keep the flow of the game going.  For all other grades, pressing is permitted in the 2nd half if the score is within 10 points. Press for ALL Levels is allowed in the last minute of the game in order for teams to foul to stop the clock. ALL fouls in the last minute result in a FREE THROW
  • Playing time will be distributed equally amongst the players to best of their coach’s ability
  • Overtime Regular Season: Go immediately to shootout where each player gets one free throw attempt. The team with the most made free throws after an even number of attempts has been made wins the game. Teams must shoot the same number of free throws. If there is a tie after this, repeat the process.
  • Overtime Playoffs and Finals: Add 3 minutes to the clock and play the full 3 minutes. If there is a tie after this, Add two minutes and play the full 2 minutes. If it goes Triple OT, go into a shootout.

Playoff Seedings

  • In the event of a tie in the standings, the higher seed for playoffs will go to the team that won the latest head-to-head matchup.
  • In the event of a three-way time, the higher seed for playoffs will go to the team with the best head-to-head between the three teams during the latest matchup (ie- team that goes 2-0).
  • If there is still a three-way tie (ie-each team is 1-1 in the latest matchups), the higher seed will go to the team with the highest point differential for the latest of the matchups.
